Year 6 School Journey to Dorset, by Bea
Year 6 went on a school journey to Osmington Bay, Dorset for four and a half days. We arrived there by coach and having heard a lot about it from previous Year 6 members, we were all eager to find out what it was really like! We were joined by eight members of school staff and two members of PGL staff. It was a trip none of us will forget.
The trip included five activities a day- four day activities and one night activity. The night activities lasted for two and a half hours and the day activities lasted for an hour and a half each. Everyones’ favourite was the zipwire apart from the people that were afraid of heights! Although everyone admitted it was the most entertaining activity it was also one of the scariest. It wasn’t the jump of f the platform that I found the frightening thing, it was more climbing up the ladder which felt very unstable and narrow! Luckily we were hooked up with a ton of safety gear, all of which had been tested thoroughly and which had been said to hold up an elephant! Intoxicated with fear though we all were, most of us managed to make the first terrifying move and jump off the platform no less then 30ft in the air.
The second best activity was a the forever remembered Disco! Only an hour long – 9-10pm – the disco managed to get possibly the best and most votes. All the girls had spent about three hours chosing their outfits as opposed to the boys who didn’t even change their clothes! It was a combination of booming music, dozens of children screaming their heads off and amazingly bright spot lights. For many of us this was our first disco and this couldn’t have been a better introduction to the party life! Some of the boys did some breakdancing as you can see in this photo!
